About Me

Hi, I’m Spenser O'Bryan, I bought my first property by pure chance. Back in 1997 the cost of a mortgage and the cost of renting a room were exactly the same price, $500. I got extremely lucky with my first house purchase and it honestly was nothing but dumb luck. Pays to have a big of Irish luck, I guess.

 

I had my first hardship after I was approved for a mortgage a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house a with a practical ADU overlooking a river on Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa. I bought during a time where the market was hot and I grossly overpaid. Within two years the mortgage payments became unsustainable and I ended up executing a short sale just to get out from being underwater. It was quite a lesson.

Over the next two decades after that experience I bought a few vacant lots in Mendocino County and a really beautiful vacant lot around the Lake Shastina area. I have dreams of developing those both to have my hideaways in the hills and by a lake. I love being in the Bay Area so much it may be a far away dream. But at least the taxes are about $500 a year total for each!

In the last 7 years my wife Janet and I have bought a house in San Francisco so that she can finish her doctorate at UCSF in Physical Therapy and I can continue running Music Venues and Festivals in San Francisco. We have recently moved back to the north bay so that she can start her career and our daughter can grow up in the house purchased 27 years ago.

Our family loves the great outdoors and in our spare time you can find us hiking all over th e Bay Area.
